Donald Trump says Twitter has become ‘very boring’ since he was banned
During a round of appearances on right-wing outlets, Donald Trump this morning called for the impeachment of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, claiming that Republican members of Congress “have something on him”.
The former president’s hatred of Mr McConnell is well known, but there is no reason to expect other Republican senators to make a concerted effort against him. Mr. McConnell has invested heavily in the Senate midterm campaign, while Mr. Trump has used a disproportionate share of the money he has raised for his own legal bills.
Mr Trump’s blow to Mr McConnell comes after news that a key former aide, Kash Patel, is set to testify before a grand jury investigating the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago after being granted immunity from prosecution.
Mr Patel is a close adviser to the former president and maintains a personal relationship with him. He was appointed as one of its official representatives to the Ministry of Archives and National Records.
Meanwhile, the Oath Keepers trial yesterday saw prosecutors reveal a message to Mr Trump written but never sent by the group’s former leader, Stewart Rhodes, who is facing chilling conspiracy charges in relation to the January 6 attack.

Trump’s lawyers tried to intervene over New York AG’s suit, report says
Report in The New York Times says members of Donald Trump’s legal team tried to stage an intervention yesterday in the hours before he released a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James.
They warned the Florida lawyers who drafted the lawsuit (who at times sound a lot like the former president with his trademark boasts and complaints) that it was frivolous and would fail, and further that they could be committing misconduct.
Maggie Haberman believes that other Trump advisers are now coming for Bruce Epshteyn regarding the matter.
Here are more details about the suit against Ms James:

ICYMI: Trump’s lawsuit against Letitia James
Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social account that he has filed a lawsuit against New York attorney general Letitia James, accusing her of pursuing a “relentless, damaging, public and unapologetic crusade” against him.
The former president also alleged in the lawsuit filed in Florida circuit court that the New York Attorney General is violating his rights to privacy and property.
He said Ms James was violating her rights as a donor and beneficiary of Donald J Trump’s revocable trust.
Mr. Trump further said that Ms. James has done little to protect New York from rampant crime.
The lawsuit said the attorney general’s goal is to “destroy him [Donald Trump] personally, financially and politically”.

Why the Kash Patel deal could spell disaster for Trump
The immunity deal given to Donald Trump aide Kash Patel could plunge the former president into legal jeopardy, experts say.
According to legal experts, the immunity granted to Mr Patel could suggest that the jury is getting closer to the end.
Former US attorney Barb McQuade told MSNBC that such deals are made when someone has enough information about the case to be useful.

Trumps role in Paul Pelosi’s conspiracy theory blizzard
The details of the attack on Paul Pelosi are outlined in several court documents based on 911 calls, police video, surveillance footage and interviews with Mr. DePape himself, who told officers he was “sick from the crazy f***** level the lies coming out of Washington DC” and intended to send a message to members of Congress that there are consequences for their actions.
But within 48 hours of the attack, the case of a man who appeared to be mired in venomous, online-fueled conspiracy theories that almost killed the Democratic House Speaker’s husband was thrown into disarray by the one far right ecosystem initiated the attack.
Alex Woodward looks at how it has developed, and how the Trumps fit in.

Pelosi’s attack: Capitol police launch investigation into lack of CCTV feed
US Capitol Police have launched an internal investigation after officers monitoring CCTV cameras trained on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home failed to notice the break-in just before a brutal attack on Ms husband Pelosi last week.
Earlier this week, multiple outlets reported that officials at the department’s Washington, D.C., command center responsible for monitoring a live feed from cameras installed to monitor Pelosi’s residence did not know anything was amiss this early in the morning. 28 October until they saw police vehicles with emergency lights activated outside the speaker’s townhouse.
The officer in charge of monitoring the cameras only found footage of the alleged attacker David DePape smashing a glass door at the back of the house and entering it while reviewing footage from the previous few hours.
