Migos: Takeoff’s last Instagram story before the fatal shooting

Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday (November 1).

The rapper, full name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was 28 years old.

Police officers were called at approximately 02:34 local time (7:34 GMT) to a shooting outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in downtown Houston, where a private party of about 40 people was taking place.

Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were both in attendance. Quavo, real name Quavious Keyate Marshall, was not injured in the altercation. The third member of Migos, Offset, was not present.

An argument reportedly arose after a dice game, and shots were fired. The takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death was mourned by industry figures and fans, and tributes to the late rapper poured in on social media.

Celebrities including James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast and Khloé Kardashian shared posts remembering the rapper.

So far, no suspects have been arrested and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner asked witnesses to “step up” information about the shooting.

Police, as well as the rapper’s fans, have urged others to take down graphic videos of the incident circulating on the internet.

Metro Boomin pays tribute to Takeoff

Metro Boomin, who produced Migos’ hit song “Bad and Boujee,” expressed his sadness over Takeoff’s death on Twitter.

“I can’t even put into words how bright and warm a genuine soul he was,” reads part of his heartfelt tribute.

James Corden says he is “absolutely devastated” by Takeoff’s death

James Corden says he shared some “unforgettable moments” with Takeoff and fondly recalled how the US rapper referred to him as “Big Drip”.

The host of the American show The Late Late Show said the artist “essentially wanted Migos to exist” and that they had become “one of the most influential rap groups of this generation.”

Offset pays tribute to fellow Migos

Offset and Quavo have yet to issue a full statement following Takeoff’s death.

However, Offset paid a subtle tribute to his late Migos bandmate by changing the profile pictures on his social media profiles to pictures of Takeoff.

Artist Rob The Original has gone viral for his striking portrait of the late rapper made up of clothes.

A video of the creator finishing the portrait has nearly two million views on TikTok at the time of writing.

The takeoff was shot multiple times, the coroner’s report confirmed.

The Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed her cause of death as “penetrating gunshot wounds” and ruled her death a “homicide.”

A new mural in Takeoff’s honor has been painted in Atlanta

An underpass in Atlanta, Georgia is now home to a Takeoff mural.

Takeoff was a native of Lawrenceville, a suburb of Atlanta, along with fellow Migos star Offset.

The mural is located under the John Lewis Freedom Parkway Bridge near Fourth Ward Park.

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team honors Takeoff

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is among the latest to honor Takeoff.

In preparation for last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, “all Migos music for the Lakers warmed up tonight in a tribute to Takeoff,” tweeted Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.

The Lakers also fielded former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
