Margot Robbie Snuck In Kiss With Brad Pitt On “Babylon” Set

Two months ago, the first trailer for the upcoming period comedy-drama Babylon was released – and quickly picked up tons of hype.

The film, which opens in select theaters on December 23 and elsewhere on January 6, was directed by Damien Chazelle, who has also written and directed critically acclaimed projects. To La Land e whiplash.

But in addition to the renowned director of the film and the attention-grabbing trailers, the ensemble cast Babylon left fans even more excited for its release, with Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva and Tobey Maguire being just a few of its big names.

In the film, Margot plays aspiring actor Nellie, who hires Manny, played by Diego, and Jack, played by Brad, to help her find success and stardom in 1920s Hollywood.

Discussing the project during an interview with E! News, Margot shed some behind-the-scenes light on one of the film’s biggest additions.

After revealing that she and Brad share a kiss in the film, Margot admitted that the kiss was actually “not in the script at all” and was completely improvised by her.

“That wasn’t in the script,” she said of the kiss. “But I thought, When else will I get a chance to kiss Brad Pitt? I just go for it“.

And so, Margot took matters into her own hands to make sure she got her long-awaited kiss with Brad.

In talking to the director, Margot convinced Damien that her character of Nellie kissing Jack would make sense.

“I said, ‘Damien, I think Nellie would just go up and kiss Jack,'” he recalled. “And Damien said, ‘Well, she could wait, wait. You just want to kiss Brad Pitt. And I was like, ‘Oh, so report me.'”

“‘This opportunity may never come again,'” he continued. “And he said, ‘It works for the character,’ and I said, ‘I think so.’

Well, after Damien admitted that Margot’s character kissing Brad’s would be a great scene, he actually instructed her to “do it again”, something Margot, who described the kiss as “simply brilliant”, was more than happy to hear .

“He said, ‘No, do it again.’ That really works,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh, great.'”

Margot previously collaborated with Brad on the 2015 comedy-drama The Great Shortand most recently in the Quentin Tarantino blockbuster Once upon a time in Hollywood.

And the pair share a long-lasting friendship – Brad even enlisted Margot’s help in delivering his slightly awkward acceptance speech at the 2020 BAFTA Awards.

As you may recall, Brad prepared to make a joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping back from the royal family to spend more time in Canada.

But when he suddenly couldn’t attend the ceremony, he asked Margot to give the speech on his behalf, the night before the big event.

Reading Brad’s speech aloud from a piece of paper, Margot recited, “He says he’s going to name this. [award] Harry because he is so excited to bring it back to the States with him! Interestingly, Prince Harry’s brother and sister-in-law, who were sitting in the front row of the audience, laughed at the little joke along with the rest of the crowd.

“The night before, he said, ‘Can you do my speech for me?’ I can’t be there,” he said. “I was so scared by his speech that I didn’t even think about preparing one for myself.”

“I was for two [awards]”, she continued. “For both films in my category, and it wasn’t until I was on my way there that I said, ‘Oh my God, I hope I don’t win because I have nothing to say.'”
