The ICC has shown its commitment to ensuring a result in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final by securing an extension of permitted working hours at the MCG for Sunday’s clash between Pakistan and England, meaning tournament officials were able to further extend playing time .

Tournament officials have now been able to add an extra hour of extra time to play at the MCG on Sunday night, meaning a total of 90 minutes is now available if a game is lost.

That means the game could go on until midnight local time if extra time is required on Sunday.

Scheduled match times (all times local)

Start of the match: 19:00
1st inning: 7.00-20.28 hours
Innings break: 8.28am-8.48pm
2nd Inning: 8:48am-10:30pm
Additional free time: 22:30-12:00

Players and officials were treated to a beautiful sunny morning in Melbourne on Sunday, although the clouds slowly began to roll in ahead of the scheduled first ball at 7:00pm local time.

The ability to complete the match on the reserve day on Monday (14 November at 15:00 AEDT) is still available to the event organisers, although every effort will be made to complete the match on Sunday.

If the match is to be completed on a Monday, then the match will be resumed at the place where the last ball was played, but this will only be used if the match cannot be completed on Sunday.

If at any time the umpires jointly agree that the conditions of the field, the weather or the light, or any other circumstances are dangerous or unreasonable, they shall immediately stop play or not allow play to begin or resume.

The decision as to whether the conditions are so bad as to warrant such action should be taken by the umpires alone, after consultation with ICC match referee Ranjan Madugal.
